If you've been diagnosed with breast cancer, the last thing you need to worry about is finding your way through the maze of health care systems and treatment options. If only there were someone to show you how to get what you need, tell you what to expect and ease your anxiety.

Enter the Breast Health Patient Navigator. The Navigator works closely with your doctor and cancer specialists to assist you in obtaining the resources available to you in southern Illinois.

This free services can:

  • Help the patient identify and access available finalcial services to pay for healthcare needs
  • Facilitate interaction and communication with healthcare staff and providers
  • Conduct breast health education classes with individuals and groups, stressing importance of screenings
  • Help the patient arrive at scheduled appointments and be prepared
  • Assist the patient to identify and utilize appropriate services
  • Attend health fairs and wellness screening programs
  • Streamline appointments and paperwork
  • Alleviate the patient's anxiety and fear
  • Connect the patient with support systems
  • Track interventions and outcomes
  • Perform clinical breast exams
Who needs a navigator? Everyone.

The Breast Health Patient Navigator service is free. It can be used by anyone in southern Illinois looking for resources on breast health, from preventions information on exams and screenings, to cancer treatment and support services. Breast cancer patients, their families and friends are all welcome to access this service.
