Southern Illinois Healthcare welcomes David Dickinson, D.P.M., to the staffs of Memorial Hospital Carbondale, Herrin Hospital and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Murphysboro. Dickinson recently joined Dr. Daniel Brown and staff at Southern Illinois Podiatry in Herrin.

Connecting with patients on a personal level is something Dickinson strives for. “They want someone they can trust,” said Dickinson. “I provide the best care I can. I want each patient to feel they are the most important person.”

Dickinson became interested in the field of podiatry due to personal experience. “I was always interested in medicine,” said Dickinson. “I walked in to the doctor’s office with foot pain and walked out without pain. That’s when I thought podiatry was an area I’d like to specialize in.”

Dickinson is a graduate of University of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his residency at Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dickinson and his wife enjoy the small town atmosphere and the friendly people of southern Illinois. They are residing in Herrin with their four children.

“This is also an area with a lot of potential for growth,” said Dickinson, “and with the colleges here, my wife has an opportunity to further her education.”

Dickinson said his work in podiatry is rewarding. “I enjoy helping people get back to their lifestyle,” said Dickinson. “Foot pain is not normal. If they have it, there is something that can be done.” Dickinson specializes in diabetic foot care, surgery, sports medicine and trauma.

Hours of operation at 101B N. 16th Street in Herrin are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. He also sees patients in satellite offices at DuQuoin, Harrisburg and West Frankfort. Dickinson may be reached by calling 618-988-6034.
