Your choice of rehabilitation care is crucial. Often, the first phase of rehabilitation can be the most important, requiring intense, high-level care. But your need for acute inpatient rehabilitation does not mean you or your loved one must be far from home.
Through an alliance with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, ranked the “Best Rehabilitation Hospital in America” by U.S. News & World Report since 1991, Herrin Hospital offers innovative therapy and patient outcomes that exceed the national average in virtually all functional areas.
Our goal is to help people regain as much function as possible, so they may resume many of their hobbies and activities. During their stay with us, we lead them through an individual therapy program that addresses their goals and unique rehabilitation needs.
Acute rehabilitation is appropriate for people who require 24-hour physician availability, 24 hour rehabilitative nursing care, the skill of at least two different therapies and can tolerate at least three hours of intensive therapy 5 days a week. See a list of appropriate conditions and therapies.
Patients take part in both individual and group therapy, allowing them the opportunity to focus on individual goals, as well as learn from and be encouraged by the progress of their fellow patients. Friends and family are also encouraged to be a part of your recovery. How to prepare:
