A diagnostic cardiac catheterization may be needed in order to obtain additional information about heart function. Sometimes, an interventional catheterization is necessary to clear blocked arteries or implant a special pacemaker. At Prairie Heart Institute---Memorial Hospital of Carbondale we have offered cardiac catheterization services since 1994 and we have been a leader in delivering both diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, performing over 2000 and over 800 interventional catheterizations each year.
Before and after treatment, patients will be treated by the local cardiologists, of Prairie Cardiovascular . In-house support staff work with the cardiologists during procedures. After a catheterization procedure your physician and the Prairie Heart Institute-Carbondale staff will communicate with your family physician and will keep you informed of any additional steps that need to be taken.
